Work Opportunities

International students studying in Australia on a Student visa (subclass 500) have limited work rights. During term time, students can work a maximum of 48 hours per fortnight (2 weeks) and unlimited hours during holidays. PhD and Masters by Research students can work unlimited hours.

Graduates can start working in Australia on a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) for up to 5 years depending on their qualifications and if their degree falls in an area of verified skills shortage. Other graduates can work up to 3 years on the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).
