Reading

• Read academic articles daily – Use sources like National Geographic, Scientific American, or university websites.
• Practice skimming and scanning – Learn to find main ideas and details quickly.
• Build academic vocabulary – Make flashcards for words you see often in TOEFL texts.
• Take timed practice tests – The 35-minute limit is strict, so practice your speed.
• Analyze your mistakes – Review why you got a question wrong to avoid repeating it.

Listening

• Listen to US university lectures – Use free courses from MIT OpenCourseWare or TED Talks.
• Practice note-taking – Write down main points, examples, and key terms while listening.
• Get used to different topics – Listen to lectures on biology, history, art, and psychology.
• Do not replay audio in practice – In the real test, you hear it only once.
• Focus on speaker attitude – Listen for tone, stress, and phrases that show opinion.

Speaking

• Record yourself answering questions – Listen back to check your clarity and grammar.
• Use a template for integrated tasks – Have a structure ready like “The reading states… The lecture says…”
• Practice speaking for 45-60 seconds – Use a timer so you know how long your answer should be.
• Work on pronunciation, not accent – Speak clearly. Raters care about being understood.
• Get feedback – Use TOEFL apps or tutors to grade your responses on delivery and content.

Writing

• Learn the two task formats – Practice both Integrated and Academic Discussion tasks weekly.
• Type your essays – The test is on a computer, so improve your typing speed and accuracy.
• Use clear paragraph structure – Introduction, body paragraphs with examples, and a conclusion.
• Practice paraphrasing – For Integrated Writing, restate ideas from the reading and lecture in your own words.
• Review grammar and spelling – Errors can lower your score, so proofread in the last 2 minutes.
