How to Register for PTE Academic — Step by Step

Online registration is the quickest and most recommended method, offering real-time seat availability, instant confirmation, and flexible scheduling. The process typically takes 15–20 minutes from start to finish.

  1. Visit the Official PTE Website :- Go to pearsonpte.com — the only official portal for PTE Academic registration. Avoid third-party booking sites, as they may charge extra or provide incorrect information.
  2. Create a Pearson Account or Log In :- New users must register with their full name (as on passport), email address, date of birth, and nationality. Existing users can log in directly to the My Pearson Account dashboard.
  3. Select Your Test Type :- Choose between PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI, or PTE Core depending on your purpose — study, skilled worker visa, or Canadian immigration. This choice cannot be changed after booking without additional charges.
  4. Choose Your Test Centre and Country :- Search for available Pearson VUE test centres in your city or region. In India, PTE centres are available across major cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and more.
  5. Select Your Test Date and Time Slot :- Browse available dates at your chosen centre. PTE offers flexible scheduling, including weekday and weekend slots. Peak months (May–July, November–December) fill quickly — book at least 4–6 weeks in advance.
  6. Enter Your Personal and Passport Details :- Fill in your full name exactly as it appears on your passport, passport number, date of birth, nationality, and the purpose of taking the test (study, work, migration, etc.).
  7. Review and Confirm Your Booking :- Check all entered details carefully before proceeding. Errors in name or passport number can lead to disqualification or require rescheduling at extra cost.
  8. Pay the Registration Fee :- Complete payment using your preferred method — credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI (India). Full payment is required upfront; no instalments are permitted.
  9. Receive Booking Confirmation :- After successful payment, you receive an immediate confirmation email with your test date, time, venue, and registration ID. Save this for test day.

Common Registration Mistakes to Avoid

  • Choosing the wrong test type: Always confirm whether your university, employer, or visa authority requires PTE Academic, PTE UKVI, or PTE Core before booking — changing it later attracts fees.
  • Name mismatch with passport: Enter your full name exactly as it appears on your passport. Even a minor spelling difference can cause issues at the test centre on exam day.
  • Booking too late: Test slots at popular centres, especially in metro cities, fill up 4–6 weeks in advance during peak season. Book early to get your preferred date.
  • Not saving the confirmation: Always screenshot or save your booking confirmation email. Without it, resolving disputes or requesting refunds becomes significantly harder.
  • Using unofficial booking platforms: Always register directly on pearsonpte.com. Third-party platforms may charge inflated fees or provide fraudulent booking details.
  • Ignoring the cancellation window: If you need to cancel, do so more than 14 days before your test date to be eligible for a partial refund.
