Why Study in Canada?

Intakes in Canada

An academic year in Canada is divided into three semesters or intakes.
These intakes are named after the season or month in which they commence.
While fall intake is the primary intake, winter and summer intakes are known as secondary and tertiary intakes, respectively.

Fall Intake

(September – December)

  • All Canadian universities and colleges open their application window for all types of academic programs.
  • Suitable for the students to adjust to the environment due to warm weather conditions.
  • Favourable to international students as they transition smoothly from secondary school or college immediately.

Winter Intake

(January – May)

  • Least common intake in Canada, offers only certificates, diplomas, and bridge courses.
  • Available in selected Canadian universities.
  • Students can pursue bridge courses relevant to their regular study programs.

Summer Intake

(May-June)

  • Limited availability, generally focused on specific programs or short courses
  • Good for transfer students or those taking prerequisite courses
  • Smaller class sizes and more intensive study format
