Education System in Germany

Most of the public universities except the don’t charge tuition fees which makes studying affordable for International students. However, private universities do charge tuition fees which are given below.

1. Bachelor’s Degree

It is awarded to students when they finish their high school education. In India, the senior secondary level is equivalent to the high school level in Germany. The duration of bachelor’s degree programs in Germany is 4 years (8 semesters).

2. Master’s Degree

The duration of the post-graduate programs in Germany is 1-2 years (2-4 semesters).

3. Doctoral Degree

There is no specific time frame allocated to students but on average the doctoral degree can be earned in 2-4 years.

Post-study Permit in Germany

The post-study permit is an extension of stay which is granted to an international student after his/her completion of studies in Germany so that they can find suitable employment within the stipulated period. The duration of the post-study work permit is 18 months which commences as soon as a student receives his/her final year result. During this period, a student can explore job opportunities in Germany and also can improve or polish his/her skills required for employment.

Work professionals can apply for the settlement permit after the 2 years of issuance of an EU Blue card.
