33 Million Donate by Institute for International Education for Student Crisis
Contributions from five donor families will fund programs to protect scholars under threat and create opportunities for displaced students.
IIE will grow its flagship programs, thanks to generous donations.
The fund helps displaced and at-risk scholars by giving them fellowships so they can keep doing their work anywhere in the world.
Over 1,100 scholars from 62 countries have benefited, partnering with 500+ host institutions worldwide.
Refugee students have a lot of difficulties getting into higher education.
Only 7% of refugee students had access to higher education in 2023, compared to the global average of 42%.
This program covers tuition, housing, and living expenses for refugee students pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degrees.
Scholars are nominated by IIE offices run by refugees who understand the challenges displaced students face.
The donation will strengthen initiatives in the face of global unrest and education crises.
The UK offers 1,000 fully funded master’s scholarships, though Afghan applications face uncertainty due to the ongoing war.
